The people have spoken.
At our church’s AGM held on 19th July 2009, the Voting Members of Calvary Church voted in support of the following resolution:
We, the members therefore RESOLVE:
(a) That the following blogs, CALVARY TODAY, BERITA CALVARY,CALVARY KINI and CALVARY UNITY be closed within 3 days from 19th June 2009 i.e. by 22 June 2009.
b) That failure to close the said blogs by 22 June 2009 be deemed as contravening the wishes of the Church members and leadership of our elected leaders and that the Board of Deacons do investigate and take firm disciplinary actions against person(s) connected in anyway whatsoever to the blog that remains open.
c) That any member found disseminating slanderous and untrue information about the church through public domain be subject to disciplinary action from the Board of Deacons.
We at Calvary Kini have made the decision to honor the voice of the 62% majority (342 - 206) of the church's voting members who have clearly expressed their views on secret ballots in what is probably the longest AGM in the history of Calvary Church.
What About Calvary Today?
We are aware that in their recent post, "AGM of Shame," the authors of Calvary Today have openly declared that they have decided to keep their blogs open in defiance of the majority of Voting Members who have voted for this resolution.
Calvary Today has rejected the opinions of the majority. They are not interested in the views of the membership of Calvary Church. Every day that Calvary Today remains open is a sign of their contempt for the members who have gathered at a general meeting. How could these same authors expect their opinions to be taken seriously if they cannot even honor the wishes of the majority?
What's Next?
On our part, we have effectively closed Calvary Kini and have taken our contribution to this discussion out of the public domain. All previous posts have been deleted. We have however, exported our posts to an archive site for reference purposes in order to have a permanent record just in case we are misquoted in the coming months. Any reader who wishes to revisit any of those posts will need to email us and identify themselves as a church member and we will grant them temporary access to these posts.
Concluding Thoughts
We would like to take this time to appreciate our readers who have supported us over the last 6 months and we hope that in some small way we have helped bring clarity to the unhealthy situation that has been brought about by the articles and comments that are published on Calvary Today.
We long to see this whole debacle come to and end. We implore the authors of Calvary Today to cease their vitriol for the leadership of the church. We ask, that for the sake of the gospel of Jesus Christ, that the TTG unclench their fists and join hands with our pastors and deacons as we continue to reach the lost.
May God richly bless you!
